A foiling demo at the quilt show

I did a little demo at our local quilt show about foiling. I am a beginner quilter but as an artist I love to experiment with different media so I have been using foil in my art quilts. It’s quite fun and easy to use. The effect is beautiful on dark velvet.  Advertisements

Multi media canvas class

We had a blast today in my class. Every participant in the class had a vision of what they wanted for their canvas. We brought it to life with many different media and techniques.  Suzi did spring flowers, Becky did under the sea, Charryll did a shabby chic piece, and Brandy did a travel canvas…

Succulant stamp class

The ladies made two cards and a home decoration piece with the Stampin Up succulant stamp and die set. We made a little container with the Bakers box to hold some colourful die cut succulants. I showed everyone how to colour the edges of the petals with ink and embossing powders. These stamp and die…

Beautiful You and Mediterranean Moment cards

We had a busy card class today. We made 6 simple but effective cards with 2 stamp sets. We coloured the images  with the new Stampin Up water colour pencils. The black card was done with perfect pearls.

Queen Quilt

I designed this quilt for my scientist daughter who just completed her doctorate in geology. This represents the different strata dotted with fossils created by ancient reef systems. I stencilled the snail shell shapes with oil fabric crayons. The fabrics I choose all have lines and patterns similar to the photographs in her thesis. The…

Dragonfly quilt

This quilt was completed as a challenge to use a piece of the sparkly blue fabric in a quilt no bigger than 15 x 20 inches. As soon as I saw the fabric I thought of dragonflies. This will be for the Oliver Quilt Show in April. It has many small pieces of my hand…

Balloon adventures

Today we made some cheerful cards with the Balloon adventures stamps and dies. The gold and black shaker card is a stunner. We also did a cute little card with the Tasty Truck stamp set. It’s a freebie with a minimum purchase.

Felt fish and a quilted measuring tape wall hanging

Finished a few more gifts today for my youngest grandson. The felt fish have metal washers sewn in their mouths. Hopefully grandad will make a fishing rod with a magnet. His daddy likes to fish so this will be good practice for a little guy.  The measuring tape wall hanging is simply quilted and will…
