Crafty Lady has arrived

My order from Ellen Hudson arrived today. This is the Crafty Lady stamp and die set by Brandi. I can hardly wait to play! Advertisements

Yipppee! My Stitch Happy machine finally arrived!

This was my birthday gift from the hubby many months ago. It finally arrived 6 months after it was preordered. I can hardly wait to start sewing with it. It is very light so I hope it has a strong motor as advertised to sew through paper with thick thread. It’s pretty cute though and…

Quilted pillows

I made a couple of quilted pillows to match the queen sized quilt that now resides in Australia. These are a birthday gift for my middle daughter. I still have plenty of fabric left. Maybe a table runner now?

Catalog open house

To celebrate the New Stampin Up catalog I had an Open House party. Customers enjoyed daisy cupcakes and lemonade while drooling over all the lovely new possibilities. The make-and-take was a library pocket decorated with daisy sramps to hold a packet of flower seeds. There was a door prize and goodie bags too. Each customer…

Grandma and me class

Today some little girls came with their  honorary    grandmothers to craft together and make some gifts for their mums. We made a card, a goodie bag with treats to share and a pretty box to hold a beaded bracelet. The girls did the decorations and the adults helped with the tricky parts. We used…

Canadian pillow

Celebrating Canada’s 150 birthday this year so I made this large bench pillow. The front was free motion quilted. The back of the pillow was pieced with the fabric scraps. This was a kit I purchased at the Oliver Double O Quilt Show last month. Thanks to my friend Helen Lawrence for the tips and…

T shirt designs

The designs in these two shirts were stencilled with colour remover on black cotton shirts. Then I painted over the bleached portions with fabric paint. On one I foiled stars and added fabric glitter.

A foiling demo at the quilt show

I did a little demo at our local quilt show about foiling. I am a beginner quilter but as an artist I love to experiment with different media so I have been using foil in my art quilts. It’s quite fun and easy to use. The effect is beautiful on dark velvet.

Multi media canvas class

We had a blast today in my class. Every participant in the class had a vision of what they wanted for their canvas. We brought it to life with many different media and techniques.  Suzi did spring flowers, Becky did under the sea, Charryll did a shabby chic piece, and Brandy did a travel canvas…

Succulant stamp class

The ladies made two cards and a home decoration piece with the Stampin Up succulant stamp and die set. We made a little container with the Bakers box to hold some colourful die cut succulants. I showed everyone how to colour the edges of the petals with ink and embossing powders. These stamp and die…

Beautiful You and Mediterranean Moment cards

We had a busy card class today. We made 6 simple but effective cards with 2 stamp sets. We coloured the images  with the new Stampin Up water colour pencils. The black card was done with perfect pearls.

Queen Quilt

I designed this quilt for my scientist daughter who just completed her doctorate in geology. This represents the different strata dotted with fossils created by ancient reef systems. I stencilled the snail shell shapes with oil fabric crayons. The fabrics I choose all have lines and patterns similar to the photographs in her thesis. The…
